FDC hosts Iftar for Arua city Muslims

ARUA. The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) leaders have for the first time hosted the Muslims of Arua Central Division in Arua City for an Iftar dinner.

The dinner which show Muslims feasting in excitement was held at Arua primary school ground on Friday, April 5, 2024 evening.

During the function, Walid Lubega Mulindwa, the deputy Secretary for Publicity in charge of Publication and Documentation said the party top leadership decided that this year’s annual Iftar be taken to Arua city.

“Annually we congregate as the party together with the Muslim brothers and sisters to honour every month of Ramadan and also to share with our Muslim brothers and sisters. This time round we decided to touch base in Arua to celebrate with our Muslim brothers,” said Mulindawa who represented the party President, Patrick Amuriat and Secretary General, Nandala Mafabi.

He said as a party they appreciate that West Nile and in particular the capital of West Nile, Arua city has a sizable number of Muslim brothers across the divide.

“So, we decided to come to West Nile to celebrate with our Muslim brothers and also to appreciate what they go through here in West Nile and also to remind the people of West Nile that FDC is still a party of choice and to request them to support our party,” Mulindwa said.

Khemis Muzaid, the Arua Central Division Mayor commended the FDC leadership for thinking about the people of Arua this time round.

He said the party used to organize Iftar dinner for Muslims elsewhere, but by bringing this year’s opportunity to his division, the people are so grateful to the party leadership.

Sheik Abdul Rahim Juruga, the Lecturer at Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) Arua Campus led the Muslim faithful in the FDC Iftar prayers.
