How Manchester United Swept Aside Tottenham 2-0 in Premier League Match

Manchester United eased past Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 in the Premier League at Old Trafford thanks to goals from Fred andBruno Fernandes. The victory puts United just one point back ofChelsea for fourth place in the table.

United thoroughly dominated the first half but were disappointed to be level at the break. Erik ten Hag’s men took 19 shots in the opening 45 minutes, the most the club have ever recorded in the first half of a Premier League match without scoring. Fourteen of those 19 shots came from outside the box, perhaps explaining the failure to score.

Almost immediately after half-time, United got their deserved breakthrough as Fred scored a heavily-deflected effort in the 47th minute.

Fernandes doubled the hosts’ lead in the 69th minute, collecting the ball in the Tottenham box and curling a beautiful shot past Lloris into the far corner.

Hugo Lloris was the lone bright spot for Antonio Conte’s side as he made eight saves, several of them brilliant.
