Bukedea Comprehensive School, Amus College School, St. Mary’s Kitende, and other top schools representing Uganda are eagerly awaiting the draws for the Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Association (FEASSA) Games. The highly anticipated draw event is scheduled for Monday, August 12th, 2024, at 10:00 AM at the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) headquarters, located at GNS Plaza in Kampala, Uganda.

The draws will determine the pools for each qualified school team from the participating countries—Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya, Tanzania, Burundi, and South Sudan. These pools will serve as the pathway to the finals in the 13 sporting disciplines that will be contested during the games, which are set to take place in the Teso Zone from August 16th to 27th, 2024.

Approximately 40 schools will be drawn into two groups of five teams each. The top two teams from each group will advance to the next stage, setting the stage for intense competition as the schools vie for a spot in the finals. Uganda, as the defending champion, will be looking to maintain its dominance after lifting the overall trophy at last year’s 20th edition of the FEASSA Games held in Huye, Rwanda.

Co-host Amus College School’s head coach, Mwalimu Nimrod Kintu, shared his thoughts with Wallnetnews regarding the upcoming draws, particularly focusing on the soccer teams, “We are eagerly anticipating the draws, especially for our soccer teams—both girls and boys. The competition will be tough, with top schools from across East Africa, but we are confident in our preparations and are ready to face any challenge. Our goal is to make it to the finals and represent Uganda proudly.”

The draw event will be a crucial moment for all participating schools, as it will set the tone for the competition and determine the matchups in the group stages. Schools like debutant  Bukedea Comprehensive School with Amus College School, and St. Mary’s Kitende, which have a strong legacy in East African school sports, are particularly focused on securing favorable placements to enhance their chances of progressing through the tournament.

Meanwhile, as the FEASSA Games draws event approaches, the excitement and anticipation among the participating schools are palpable. With Uganda aiming to defend its title on home soil, the outcome of the draws will be a key factor in determining the path to success. All eyes will be on the USSSA headquarters on Monday, as the schools await the results that will shape their journey in the 2024 FEASSA Games.
