PLU is a registered civic organization in Uganda headed by the first son, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba also the Senior Presidential Advisor on Special Operations. PLU replaced the popular MK Movement which was launched by Gen. Muhoozi, two years ago.

Muhoozi recently appointed different coordinators across the country of whom Atima was appointed as the PLU coordinator for the greater Arua.

Following his appointment, Atima organized a function to officially unveil the organization to the people of West Nile at Hill Top Hotel in Arua city on Thursday.

During the function, Atima urged the people to use PLU to embrace national unity, peace and stability in the country.

“I’m here today to unveil a new civic organization set up in Uganda that seeks to appeal to a wider cross section of the population of this country and this is Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU),” Atima said.

“The purpose of PLU is to have a viable mobilization towards Ugandans and the goal of this is to cause national unity, peace and stability across the country. PLU was formed by non-other than our gallant son, our gallant servant, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba and he is the chairman of PLU,” Atima revealed.

Atima vowed to champion the goal of PLU to ensure that they mobilize Ugandans to embrace national unity, peace and stability.

“So, I’m here to accept my appointment and to tell my people of Central Division, my people of Arua city, my people of the greater Arua and my people of West Nile region that this is a blessing to us as a region to coordinate a very powerful civic organization that has been launched to spearhead peace, stability and unity across the country. I want to thank Gen. Muhoozi for having the vote of confidence in me and I will do my best to ensure that PLU succeeds in the West Nile region,” Atima remarked.

“I now want to encourage, I want to mobilize, I want to ask all the people across all walks of life to embrace PLU. PLU takes everybody in consideration; we welcome all the youth, we welcome all women, we welcome all men regardless of your age, region, regardless of your tribe and regardless of your religion so that service can properly reach to the people without corruption,” Atima added.

He noted that this country has been characterized with a lot of corruption but as PLU, they want to set a pace of where service delivery reaches the people without corruption.

“In my position as a coordinator, once given the instruments of work, I will embark on mobilization, setting structures right from the districts in West Nile to the grassroots, from the districts to the sub-counties, to the parishes and to the villages. We want to set structures that will ensure everybody is inclusive,” Atima pledged.

Siraj Mansur Aluma, one of the youths who turned up for the function said what they expect from PLU especially in the West Nile region is to create employment opportunities for the youth and women, construct good roads, connect the region to the national grid for stable and reliable electricity and upgrade Arua Airfield in to an International Airport.

He argued that once the above demands are fulfilled, the region which has for long lagged behind in terms of development will catch up with other parts of the country.
