National Federations smile As UOC passes 2.3bn for FY 2023-2024

At the Uganda Olympic committee Assembly sitting at Lugogo on Saturday at their headquarters the president Dr Donald Rukare tasked member  Sports federations and associations to account for the money they receive from the government to avoid audit queries.

You going to receive huge amounts of money but few of you don’t account for the money, so please be responsible, part of the  budget for this year Ugx 1,871,660,642 is going to operational expenditure with Athlete support, Capacity building, Game connect activities and Assistance to national sporting federations taking the lion share.

Rukare urged them to also have active running calendars in a way to keep athletes busy, it was noted by Uganda Olympic committee that out of the 33 members at the assembly few are having active calendars and is set to embark on attending every sporting activity with or without invitation for fact finding mission.

During the assembly a budget of Ugx 2.3bn was passed for the financial year 2023-2024 with incomes from Administrative Subsidy –Ugx 166,365,000, NOC Activities grant –Ugx 462,125,000, Top VII Programmes –Ugx 110,910,000, Federations subscriptions –Ugx 6,000,000, Commission Activities- Ugx 50,833,750, Game Connect project- Ugx 189, 495,321, Game scholarships and Grants-Ugx 861,334,454, CGF-Ugx 13,500,000 and Others grants /sponsorships- Ugx 114,603,757

For the expenditures, Ugx 436,129,738 will go to the administrative while Operational expenditure  will cover for CGF (Equipments, game charger)-Ugx 27,189,000, Athletes support –Ugx 861,334,454, Assistance for National federations-Ugx 185,878,377, Capacity building –Ugx 208,015,857, Game Connect- Ugx 189,495,321 and Commission Activities –Ugx 50,833,750.

The majority of funds for the passed budget are partners that are the International Olympic committee (IOC), Africa national Olympic committee (ANOC) and Government of Uganda.

Meanwhile, The Awards and Merits commission recognized outstanding sport federations during the 2023 UOC | CGAU AGM by awarding them with brand new office printers.

The receipts were Uganda Athletics federation (UAF), Uganda Boxing federation (UBF), Uganda Volleyball federation (UVF), Federation of Uganda basketball association (FUBA), Uganda Dance sport federation and Uganda rugby union (URU).
